Recently Erin wrote about Twitter and TV and the integration of these channels…this past weekend was the FA Cup between Chelsea and Everton (Chelsea won the game 2-1). What was interesting is that ITV – station that broadcasted the game, created a platform for fans to follow the game on Twitter – the FA Cup buzz was monitoring and displaying the latest Tweets in reference to the game, and also showed which players and team were being tweeted about the most. Turns out that Frank Lampard was the tweplayer of the game.
This reminded me of B-M Europe’s current platform to follow the various European elections: http://tweetelect09.eu/.
I like the idea of having a Twitter platform integrated with a TV show / event and having the possibility of interacting with others (What Read/Write is calling a backchannel) – something that Joost TV was supposed to exploit but never really did.
How do you think this will continue to evolve?
On a personal note – I would like to send my sympathies to Bill K. for the ManU loss in the finals of the Champions League – Go Bayern.

It will integrate more channels around micro referal conversations and gently powered by the long tail…

I think Twitter is going to evolve to a certain degree with even some play by play integrated into it by companies such as ESPN and Fox Sports. It seems like every week there is a new way to use Twitter which is exciting for the average techie but it still doesn’t help Twitter monetize. Also ManU would win 9/10 it just was a bad day

Agree – benefits viewers but does nothing (yet) for Twitter’s revenue stream (creek) – disagree on ManU
